time, the entire Trust Department will be moved to new and modem permanent quarters in the Main Office of the Merchants Bank Building. The Indiana Trust Office is one of the landmarks in downtown Indianapolis. Construction of the building was started in 1872, and it was completed in 1876. Originally a four story building, two additional stories were added in the early 1900 s. Because of its proximity to the Court House, the Indiana Trust Office has housed many of the cities prominent attorneys. Mr. Frenzel said that demolition of the building will commence in the spring of 1959, with completion expected in the fall of 1960. Mr. Frenzel further commented that this is just another indication of the Bank’s abiding faith in the future and continued growth of Indianapolis and its downtown area.

Town Officials To Meet With Representatives In an effort to get the views of Marion County residents on issues coming before the 1959 Session of the Indiana General Assembly, the Marion County Delegation of the House of Representatives met with officials from the Town of Lawrence, Town of Speedway, and City of Beech Grove, Paul E. Pierce, chairman of the Marion County delegation and State Representa-tive-elect, announced today. The meeting was held January 6th, 2:30 p.m., Empire Room, Hotel Claypool. J. Patrick Endsley, clerk-treas-urer for the Town of Lawrence, said he was overwhelmed to receive the invitation to such a meeting. “This is the first time in my recollection that any legislative delegation from Marion County has ever taken the time to listen to the officials of the three largest populated areas in the County outside of the City of Indianapolis. We in the Town of Lawrence, and I’m sure the officials of Speedway and Beech Grove are likewise, tremendously
pleased to have the opportunity to explain how our communities feel about certain legislation anticipated to come before the 91st Session of the General Assembly affecting the citizens of Marion County.” William R. Fox, town administrator for Speedway, said “I certainly appreciate the opportunity. We’re happy to see that the delegation is interested in our community of 9,500 persons.” Mayor David Finney, Sr., of Beech Grove likewise appreciated the chance to express the views of his constituents. Elton Geshwiler, who became Beech Grove’s mayor after January Ist, when Mayor Finney became County Assessor, viewed the meeting as “a step forward toward better government for Beech Grove and Marion County citizens.” Mr. Pierce said that the delgation hoped that what they believe to be a precedent in calling such a meeting will be followed by future delegations from Marion County.
