Senior Scouts (Continued from Page 1) ningham Rd. These girls are embarking on their 10th year in Scouting and their services to the community have been numerous and varied. Until the past year they have been responsible for the S. Flower Bed in the park. They have served as PT A baby sitters for 2 years. They have participated in the park story-telling program. They have given 480 hours program aide to day camps and recently they served as ushers at the convention for the blind. All 14 troop members are proficient campers and several girls are trying out for the national Senior Scout Roundup at Colorado Springs next July. Last June the troop visited several state parks during the camping session and this Fall 12 of the girls participated in the All Council “camping for Fun” program. We hre all looking forward to

These veterans became Legionnaires at the September meeting of the local American Legion Post Increased activities are planned for the fall and winter seasons. The Color Guard will parade at the Speedway football games during the remainder of the football season. The Post golf tournament open to every golfer in Marion County, is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m., Saturday, September 20th, and tee entries will be accepted from anyone who desires to participate at the South Grove course. The monthly Men’s Party will be held at the Post Home, 1652 Georgetown Road, on Friday, September 26, starting at 7 p.m. This party is for Legionnaires and their guests. October 7 is Hospital Visitation night for the local Legionnaires, who distribute cigarettes to the veterans at the 10th Street VA Hospital.- The Post family wiener roast will be held at the Post Home on Saturday, October 11. The October Men’s party and the Post Halloween party will be topics of discussion at the October meeting on Tuesday, October 14. All local veterans are invited to join Speedway Post 198. Member-

"Honor Your Navy Week" A jug of Hoosier cider will be used to launch a red, white and blue Navy bus on Monument Circle September 17 to open “Honor Your Navy Week.” Kay Thompson, the 1958 Miss Indianapolis in the Miss America Contest, will christen the bus with the Hoosierland substitute for champagne. The specially painted “ Indianapolis Transit System Bus will run on different transit routes each day for a month after its launching by Miss Thompson. The ceremony will be attended by Mayor Phillip L. Bayt and officers of the Indianapolis Advisory Council on Naval Affairs, who are sponsoring the bus. Chairman of the Council is Mr. Leo J. Dwyer, Vice President of the Thorntown Textile Company. Mayor Bayt has proclaimed the week of September 17 as “Honor Your Navy Week,” during which the Navy will emphasize recruiting to maintain the Indianapolis Navy Recruiting Station’s place as the No. 1 recruiting station in its district. A luncheon for Mayor Bayt, Miss Thompson, Council members and Navy Officers in Indianapolis will be given in the Columbia Club preceding the bus launching ceremonies.

Youth Fall Roundup A call to church youth has gone out from the Indianapolis Christian Youth Council to attend the Fall Round Up at Camp Belzer, Sunday, September 21, following church services. Young people will provide their own lunches and plan for a united Christian youth work for the fall and winter months. Visitors will be told of the way the Indianapolis Christian Youth Council works, how it helps to promote interest in world affairs, and particularly the way Christian young people contribute to aid the hungry and oppressed. The program will include active games, mass singing, and discussion on the responsibilities of a delegate to the Youth Council. Officers of the Youth Council are Norman VanTilberg, President, Mildred Jacks, Vice Presidents, and Ann Runyan, Secretary.
