<?• s7ky do some children eat dirt? A. Doctors aren’t sure. They call it “pica”, meaning perverted appetite with special fondness for dirt Fortunately, the habit usually stops before too long. <?. If the mother smokes will her unborn child be injured? A. The amount of nicotine that gets to the unborn child when the mother smokes has not been determined. The baby’s heart does speed up when the mother smokes and this may be harmful. One medical authority says that until more is known it is best for prospective mothers to smoke very little or not at all. Q. "Please explain low blood sugar*— 4 O.G.” A. Low blood sugar in persons who are not taking insulin is rarely due to serious disorders. Many otherwise healthy persons may have temporary reduction in blood sugar. This is especially noticeable several hours after a sugary meal. When such food is being absorbed, blood sugar increases rapidly. Insulin is secreted to “burn” the sugar. Such a chain of events is especially common in children, and is responsible for the need for frequent feedings. 'A Blast' Nine Colleges and three High Schools were represented when forty students gathered at Brady’s, 5710 West 16th St after the first football game Friday night. They were all in high spirits as Speedway had won it’s ‘opener’ from Danville, 35 to 0. The current Varsity yell leaders Jim McClamrock and Janie Hardin just weren’t in good voice at all. Jim McAllister co-host and Tom Brady entertained with colored movies and many beautiful slides taken at all the various High School and Social functions of their senior year, leaving little time (or room) for the usual PingPong matches, dancing and Brady-Bartley Piano-Organ Duos. Everyone enjoyed those ‘luscious sloppy Joe’s’ (of DeMolay fame)
