changes, repairs and improvements. The lighting system is one of the major changes with more power being added, the players dug-outs are being made over,
the concession is being remodeled and new playground equipment being installed for the benefit of the children are some of the major improvements. A number of lesser changes are also being made and the bleachers will get another fresh painting. The Em-Roe Sporting Goods Company night softball leagues playing Monday through Friday will start on May 19. Three games will be played nightly with the first game starting at 7:00 p.m. A Sunday afternoon league at Municipal is also being organized with the first game scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Two teams have signed up for this league and they need only two more to close up the four-team Sunday league. < The Tom Joyce Seven-up team, last year’s Metropolitan champs, who were also the County champs the past three out of four years, will play feature games on Sunday nights at Municipal and are planning on bringing in some of the best teams in the country. Mr. Chandler has already booked the Aurora, 111. Sealmaster. This game is scheduled for Friday night June 20 instead of the customary Sunday night feature. Chandler also said that Thurman’s Bar of St. Louis, Mo., and Peru, Ind., have also been booked for games at Municipal.
The southside Perryettes, local top notch girls team, will play all their home games at Municipal this season on Saturday and Sunday nights. They will play other city and state teams, plus teams from Kentucky, Illinois,. Ohio and also St. Louis, Mo. Chandler said that they have just one more opening in the EmRoe Tuesday night league, due to the unexepected drop out of the Allison Jets. City or state teams wishing to play in this league may contact Joe Kelly at 209 West Washington street or by phone at MElrose 4-3446. Any stadium information may be had by contacting Orie Chandler at his restaurant at 3402 North Illinois or by phone at WAlnut 3-0627.
