A TIP FROM BETH...
Grandma scrubbed clothes all day long—Betty puts Iter's in an automtic washer and turns the dial. But what about Bob? He still washes his car like Grampa did years ago. Says he gets a better job that way. Maybe so—but was Grandma's wash cleaner than Betty's? Likely not—even after hours of hand scrubbing. Specially designed, automatic equipment makes Betty's work easier, quicker and better. Modem equipment con help Bob too. Our powerful 5 horsepower vacuum replaces Bob's whisk broom, 100 lbs. of detergent steam pressure replaces his old wire wheel brush, 9 feet of rotating automatic brushes and a full 100 gallons of automatic pressure sprays replaces the old sponge and bucket and 80 horsepower of windy blowers does away with the faithful chamois. Bob can do as good a job with his tools but like Grampa and Grandma his quality comes the hard way. Take a tip from Betty—have your car washed AUTOMATICALLY. Five minutes will save you an hour, maybe two. See us soon.

ALLISON NEWS The Allison-powered Lockheed Electra prop-jet transport has been chosen by the Navy for an anti-submarine warfare plane, it was announced by Rear Admiral Robert E. Dixon, Chief of the Navy Bureau of Aeronautics. The Navy’s Electras will be powered by four Allison T 56 prop-jet engines, each developing 4050-horsepower. The AS W planes will carry a crew of 10 and will be equipped with the latest instrumentation for the detection and destruction of enemy submarines. “All the aircraft considered had been previously developed either for commercial or military use,” Admiral Dixon said. “The Navy’s off-the-shelf procurement of the Electras will save time and money in ultimate delivery to Naval

operating forces,” he continued. Selection of the Allison-power-ed Electra was described as the plane that most nearly fulfills the requirements of the Navy for a land-based Anti-Submarine Warfare aircraft, the Navy said. A commercial version of the Electra, powered by Allison prop-jet engines, has been purchased by 12 world airlines and will enter airline service this fall. A research and development contract for a mock-up model and further outfitting for anti-sub-marine warfare will follow shortly, the Navy said, Although the cost and total number of aircraft to be.purchased was not announced by the Navy it was stated that the ASW Electras eventually will replace the famous Lockheed P2V Neptune series of Navy ASW aircraft which has the longest life span of military aircraft built by Lockheed, dating back to 1944.
