School News (Continued from Page 1) his first semester of college. Also, everyone who had at least a C average in Speedway High School succeeded in his first semester of college. The grades received by these students in College English, mathematics, and science were almost as high as the grades they received in high school. This means that the scholastic standards in high school were such that the students received a 'good background for college work. The actual first semester grades received in college in all the above subjects were 17 A’s, 23 B’s, 21 C’s, and 7 D’s. In English the grades were 4 A’s, 12 B’s, 11 C’s, and 2 D’s. In mathematics there were 7 A’s, 5 B’s, 6 C’s, and 4 D’s. In science there were 6 A’s, 6 B’s, 4 C’s, and 1 D.
