LIONESS CLUB NEWS The Speedway Lioness Club held a pitch-in dinner meeting Monday, Oct. 21 at the Speedway Christian Church with Lions Club members as guests. The program was most enjoyable and interesting and marks the beginning of an eventful social year. Jean Harris and her committee were hostesses and served a very fine meal. Delightful dinner music was presented by Sybel Simpson and Thelma Helkema who played the accordion and violin respectively. The musicians played many request numbers and also many popular tunes of a few years ago. The guest speaker was Mr. Grey LeVitt from Lafayette, Indiana, who is Deputy Commmissioner of the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles. Mr. LeVitt presented some very sobering facts about automobile accidents and traffic fatalities as well as some valuable information on traffic safety. His comments and messages will be remembered by all. President Mildred Tower, reminded the guests that Lioness Betty Meier has been hospitalized again. The Club has missed Betty’s presence for the past several months and wishes her a speedy recovery. Let us all remember Betty by sending her a note or card, room A-250 Methodist Hospital. Amity Circle Project The Amity Circle of Speedway Methodist Church is selling pecans and black walnuts, as one of the projects for this year. Packages are $1.39 each and weigh one pound. Chairman is Mrs. Frances Hitchcock, CH. 10273. •
