DID YOU KNOW . . . A Fire and Extended Coverage policy provides that, after a loss, the companywill pay the cost of repairs, less depreciation? For instance, if a 10 year old roof is seriously damaged by windstorm or hail, the company will not pay the entire cost of a new roof, but deducts the approximate value of the service you have received from your old roof. However, with a Homeowner’s policy, if sufficient insurance is carried, any loss on the dwelling is paid in full, without deduction for depreciation.
