SPEEDWAY PARENTS (Continued from Page 1) youngsters misdemeanors. Every year the Police department runs columns in the Flyer about destruction here in Speedday. To some extent it has been curbed by a few conscientious parents, but there are too many parents who prefer to take the easy way out and close their eyes to facts. Are you one of those parents who are “afraid” of your children, or would rather “let it go” rather than face the issue or a “scene” at home? Our Speedway children, generally speaking, are an exceptionally good bunch of kids. The Speedway Police have always maintained that point, and we still think so. desparately the cooperation of you, the PARENTS. We don’t want any incidents occurring in our good town such as we read daily in the Indianapolis papers of incidents which have already taken place in other communities, some of them resulting in tragedy. .There is to be a panel discussion by the PTA Study Group in which Parents Teen Age problems will be discussed with a teacher, a minister, a police officer and a parent will try to help solve some of our problems. The public, especially parents are urged to attend and ask questions. It would be well for every conscientious parent to attend. • Now back to Halloween: the Speedway Police officers have been instructed to pick up any and all youngsters found roaming the streets evenings from now until Halloween, especially if they are carrying soap or other such articles. You parents will be called into headquarters and requested to help us do something to curb this unnecessary destruction which often leads to more serious things. Think it over, Parents, very seriously. The future of your children is at stake. The Speedway Police Department
