Butler Scholarships Firty-five high school seniors from Marion County are among the recipients of 83 scholarships totaling $20,750 from Butler University, for 1957-58 President M. O. Ross has announced. Receiving scholarships also are 35 Hoosier seniors outside the country and three out-of-state students. Distribution to local schools is Broad Ripple, nine; Shortridge, seven; Manual, six; Howe and Tech, four each; Speedway three; Ben Davis, Cathedral, Warren Central and Southport, two each; and Sacred Heart, St. Mary’s, Beech Grove and St. Agnes, one each. The scholarships are awarded on a basis of high scholastic achievement during the students’ high school careers and high proficiency on state scholarship examinations. They are renewable provided the recipients meet Butler scholarship standards during their freshman year. The recipients from Speedway are; James Hardin, 1815 Norfolk Street; Linda L. Logston, 1718 Winton Avenue, and Judith A. Raybern, 1634 N. Norfolk Street.

Achievement pins will be awarded to all members and enrollment blanks tor 1957 will be available. Plan to attend.
Mr. Clyde Sallee, varsity basketball coach for the past three years, has resigned that position and Mdrris Pollard has been appointed to handle the varsity cagers next year. The reserve team, coached by Mr. Pollard the past season, will be coached by Lyle Neat next year. Mr. Sallee will coach the 7th and Bth grade* teams. The baseball team defeated Danville 25-2 and Brownsburg 4-0 'in recent games making Speedway’s conference record 4- * 1.
