ST. CHRISTOPHER’S CATHOLIC CHURCH (Continued trom Page 1) meaning to rejoice—it is the first word used in the Introit for that day. Joyful vestments are used in the church. Robert Farren wrote in his poem Laetare thus—in part— In a dear route of loneliness how life again sang sweet when fasting arms knew banqueting ' V and avid eyes could feast; and the long Lent of love was eased for one Laetare Day. But afterwards came Lent again: again the fasting way.” A report on the Pecan Sales of 1956 by the ladies of St. Christopher showed that 1156 pounds of pecans were sold and the net profit to the church was $384.65. The ladies are very grateful to everyone who made this project so successful. In the Lenten Apron project by the members of St. Christopher Altar Society, about a hundred and twenty miniature aprons were mailed to members in outlying districts as well as the larger aprons being passed now from member to member. Mrs. Grace Such made over sixty of the aprons herself and furnished the little heart patches. The ladies are asked to keep these larger aprons moving quickly and the ladies who received the miniature ones may mail them back with their offering, but preferably turn them into the rectory, or more simply just put them in an envelope and drop them in the Sunday collection baskets. On Monday, March 25th, is celebrated the Feast of the Annunciation—the announcement of the Incarnation made by the angel Gabriel to the Virgin Mary. Lenten evening services at St. Christopher ... at 7:30 o’clock . . . on Wednesday Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus followed by Mass ... on Friday The Way of the Crest, followed by Benediction. Pray daily the Rosary for peace in the world, i Nora Bray
