' Word has been received that Lewis Meier, 1956 Speedway graduate, now a freshman at Purdue University recently received a citation as the top freshman chemistry student at Purdue. In a comprehensive chemistry examination he made th£ highest score in the entire freshman class.

The Speedway freshmen lost to Brownsburg 29-28 in the first round of the Mid-State Freshman Tourney last week. Last Wednesday evening the 7th and Bth grade teams both won in games with Bridgeport. The 7th grade score was 36-24, the Bth grade 3315. The varsity lost to Warren Central 108-70 in a high scoring game at Warren Central last Friday nights The Sparkplugs had upset the Warriors in the Marion County Tourney the week before.
