ST. CniSTOPHEB’S CATWIK CHURCH (Continued rrom Page 1) sportmanship game Sunday at St Mary’s, but it just wasn’t their time to win. They lost to Holy Trinity in the’CYO Tournament 51 to 49. This ends basketball season for this year, and a very successful year it was. Johnny Knight coach, and all the others who helped did a swell job. The Cadet C.Y.O. basketball team is beginning to take on shape. These boys from the fifth to eighth grades at St. Christopher practice every Saturday morning for two hours in Marian College gym. Messrs. Benedetto, Spitzer, Cooper and Father Terrill are sponsoring the team. The boys were defeated last Saturday morning by St. Rita, but St. Rita you just wait and see what happens when these boys get to going! At the nine o’clock Mass Sunday morning, we enjoyed the singing of the choir very much. When we asked about the voices, we were told that eleven men and five boys were in the "choir. And we were told further that the choir needs bass voices and first tenors. The choir practices every Monday evening at 7:30 and any man who would like to come over and try out for the choir is cordially invited—come over, sit and listen, and find out more about it if interested. There is a program in the making for congressional singing at, Benediction and simple congressipnal singing of the Mass at nine o’clock. Sacred Heart Discussion Group met at the home of Mrs. Anna Marie Haag on Monday evening at 8 o’clock. St. Ann’s Discussion Group met yesterday morning at 9 o’clock at the home of Mrs. Helen Houk. Father Ryan, 0.M.1., who is to be the Retreat Master for the St. Christopher ladies’ retreat at Fatima next week-end is from St. Bridget. If any lady wants to know more about the retreat she should contact Mrs. Carl Sheets. Junior C.Y.O. held their election Tuesday z evening, but of course too late for us to get the results for this week. The C.Y.O. wishes to thank all who made their Chili Supper last week a success—yes, in spite of the bad weather. "At eight o’clock on Monday morning, the High Mass was said for John Theiss—an Anniversary Mass—requested by Arnold and Gladys Theiss. Tuesday morning, Jane Wiseman was remembered at the request of Mike Caito. Yesterday morning O. C. Litzelman and family requested the Mass for Elizabeth O’Neal. This morning the deceased relatives and friends of St. Christopher were remembered. Tomorrow morning the Mass will honor the Immaculate Heart of Mary as requested by Sister Marcianna and Saturday the Stieglitz family have requested the Mass for Frank Hogan. His Excellency, the Archbishop is most anxious that the ladies of every parish make a house to house canvass for Membership in the Society for the Propagation of the Faith this year. What lady from St. Christopher will volunteer for permanent chairman? It has been announced that more than $298,000 was contributed by Catholics of the Indianapolis archdiocese to the missions in 1956 from a report of the Society for the Propagation of the Faith. The report also revealed that parochial school pupils, through the Holy Childhood Association, sold 2,458,437 Christmas seals, proceeds of which were given to the missions and that the pupils “adopted” 2,881 babies in pagan lands through the ransom adoption program. Contributions must total $5 to “adopt” one baby. Father Stineman in his sermons Sunday morning suggested a very worthwhile book for Catholic reading—The Life of Man with God by Thomas Vernon Moore. Pray daily your Rosary for peace in the world. Nora Bray
