lYhen a life is in the Balance ... LINDE Oxygen

Often the difference between life and death is oxygen.. A pure, abundant and dependable supply of life-giving oxygen is essential in every hospital. For there’s no telling when a patient will require it. Linde has now developed, right here at Speedway, a new cylinder that will help Indiana hospitals reduce cylinder handling and replacement, and assure ample supply of oxygen at all times*. The new liquid oxygen cylinder holds as much oxygen as 12 standard steel cylinders. And it takes up only .one third the space. Developing and manufacturing

INDIANAPOOS «a SYMPHONY Some of the most popular symphonic and operatic selections will be combined in the first pro-* gram of the new year January 5-6 in the Murat Theatre by Conductor Izler Solomon and the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. Metropolitan Opera stars Margaret Harshaw, soprano, and Ramon Vinay, tenor, will share the spotlight in performing a portion of Wagner’s The Valkyrie, one of the most renowned of all operatic works. Solomon and the Orchestra will be featured in Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony, with that composer’s Coriolanus Overture also being included. The program will be concluded with Wagner’s Ride of the Valkyries. Miss Harshaw and Vinay will perform in its entirety the third scene of Act I of The Valkyrie. Cohsidered to be very beautiful and extremely lyrical, the scene contains the famous love duet of Siegmund and Sieglinde. Thia will be Miss Harshaw’s first local appearance while Mr. Vinay appeared here in 1952 when the Orchestra presented “Lohengrin.” Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony is, of course, one of tnF most* familiar of all symphonic works with its opening staccato theme' gaining immortality as bol of eventual victory dfihe Allied Forces during World War H. The Saturday night performance begins at 8:30 and the Sunday afternoon concert is at 3 p.m. Tickets at $3.75, $3, $2.50, $1.75 and $1.25 are available at the Symphony box office, Murat Theatre, MElrose 5-9596.
