MODEL UNITED NATIONS ASSEMBLY Fred Ruebeck, Southport high school has been elected president and Brice Tressler, of Manual high school has been elected sec-retary-general of the 1957 Model United Nations Assembly by the Marion County Hi-Y and Tri-Hi-Y Council. Sharon Staeuble, of Broad Ripple high' school has been named executive assistant. Vice-presidents named and their schools are as follows: David Bowman, Decatur Central; Sharon Wallace, Manual; Pat Reiley, Broad Ripple; Mike Gill, Howe; Diane Deitsh, Shortridge; Marilyn Krohne, Southport; and Art Sims, Beech Grove. These officers and the following Ex-officio members form the general committee which will plan the sessions; Sidney Pratt, Shortridge; Carl Bredenberg, Shortridge; and Jim Little, Alumnus. The Model United Nations was organized by Morrill Paine, executive secretary of the North Branch YMCA several years ago for the purpose of interesting high school youth in world affairs and in teaching them how the United Nations operates. The model organization assembles each spring at the State House for several days session, which are patterned after those of the parent organization in New York. Representatives of the 66 nations are selected in the fall and study

to assume their parts during the school year with the aid of their teachers. Members of the committee assisting Mr. Paine are: Mrs. Hope Nevitt, Shortridge high school and Miss Sally Green, secretary of the Council for World Affairs. BUTLER CLUB NEWS John Stegman, Peru, will head Butler University’s Student Council for 1956-57. Mr. Stegman, a senior majoring in history, is president of Blue Key, activities honorary for senior men, and is active in Butler’s student union. Other officers are Carolyn Antrobus, 5141 College Avenue, secretary, and Loretta Wnukowski, treasurer. Dr. Emma Thornbrough, associate professor of history, was elected faculty advisor for 1956-57. Sharon Marlowe, 3868 Ruckle Street, is president of the Butler University Young Republican’s Club. Other officers are Marjorie Behrman, Richmond, vice-presi-dent, Judy Barr, 3961 Broadway, secretary, and Bill Kenny, 768 North Riley, treasurer.

The missionary theme of the meeting will be “South East Asia,” and there will be interest groups for both young people and youth sponsors. YOUTH COUNCIL meeting scheduled for last Monday was cancelled and will be held next Monday, November 12th at 6:00 p.m. in Rev. Graves' office. EDUCATION COMMITTEE MEETING regularly scheduled for next Monday, November 12th, will be cancelled. DORCAS CIRCLE will hold its meeting next Tuesday, November 13th, at 7:30 p.m. with Mrs. S. L. McCormick, 4976 W. 15th Street. Mrs. Floyd E. Workman will be the assistant hostess, Mrs. Leroy M. Fisher will give devotions, and Mrs. Harold Marvel will present the program, “Frontiers of Need.” MARY-MARTHA CIRCLE will meet Wednesday, November 14th instead of November 21st. The meeting will be with Mrs. Claude Holder, 1664 Allison Street, and she will be assisted by Mrs. Carl Richards. Worship will be given by Mrs. Charles Hiatt and the program, “Purposeful Play—U.S.A.” will be presented by circle members. There will also be a Silent Auction.
