ST. CHRISTOPHER’S CATHOLIC CHURCH ' (Continued Dram Page 1) Annual Family Picnic for the parish of St. Christopher will begin at 11 o’clock Sunday morning at Northern Beach in a section reserved for them. Every family is urged to fix up a basket lunch, bring it out to Northern Beach and get acquainted with everyone else in the parish. There will be free ice cream and soft drinks. The Holy Name and the Altar Society are co-sponsors for this picinic. P.G. Martich, chairman, Bob Ziepfel, Leonard Benedetto and Jim Breen promise plenty of games with a lot of prizes for all ages—and of course there will be swimming. There is a small admission charge for adults and children over 12 at the park. On Monday boys and girls registered to attend St. Christopher school this foil, and .we were fold that judging from the registrations we are going to have a very full school. However, if there are any children not registered, they may still do so Sunday after all the Masses in the office in the school. But Sunday is the dead line. We regret to learn that Sister Mary Giles will not return to St. Christopher this year. She will stay at Marian College and continue her studies at Butler. However, we are happy for her that she is being given- this opportunity. Sister Mary Giles was one of the first three nuns at St. Christopher. Sister Susan will replace Sister Mary Giles as the fourth grade teacher. Sister Carmelite, our piusic teacher for several years, was not returned to us this year. She will teach in the orphange at Vincennes. Sister Helen Cecile will replace Sister Carmelite. We hope that Sister Susan and Sister Helen Cecile will like their new home at St. Christopher. Mr. William Sahm, executive secretary of the C.Y.O. in the archdiocese, spoke to a group of parents Ouesday evening explaining how other parishes have formed a Parents Sponsor Club and how they function. It is hoped that the parents will favor such a club in St. Christopher and actively take part. Father R. D. v Terrell, assistant pastor, is the spiritual director of the group at St. Christopher. Mrs. Mary Hendricks was remembered at the High Mass on Monday morning at the request of Mr. and Mrs. William Hendricks. The Bill Zeunik family requested a High Mass on Tuesday morning for John Kale. This morning William Fogarty was remembered according to the intention of Catherine Fogarty and family. On Saturday morning at 7:36, the High Mass will remember Leonard King, requested by Joseph King and family. Muriel Davis, youngest of the trio of Olympic representatives is the 15-year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry B. Davis of St. Christopher's parish. Muriel and two other Indianapolis Catholic high school pupils are the only athletes from Indianapolis who won the coveted honor. Muriel, a junior at St. Mary’s Academy, studied the gymnastic science at the Athenaeum Turners in Indianapolis. She will leave for Chicago on October 19 for her pre-Olympic workouts. She may have, to lay out a semester from school, but right now, Muriel, Frank-McKinney, Jr. of the Immaculate Heart of Mary parish and Mary Ann Marchino of St. Joan of Arc parish are thinking of only one thing—earning an Olympic medal for Uncle Sam. A series of Wednesday evening talks on the Catholic faith stated last week at 7:45 pan. in St. Mary’s school, 311 N. New Jersey Street. Msgr. Victor L. Goossens, pastor of St. Mary’s will have charge of these talks. Thursday night, September 20th, is the date set for the next Ladies Social Party at St. Christopher. The first great gift we can bestow on others is a good example.—Morell. Pray daily your Rosary for peace in the world.
