ST. CHRISTOPHER’S CATHOLIC CHURCH (Continued from page 1) another party early in April. Next social function scheduled at St. Christopher is a FISH DINNER, Friday, March 16th. High Masses this week: on Tuesday morning at 8 o’clock for Margaret Frances Aust requested by the Crusaders of Holy Cross Parish: Frank Hogan, brother of Mrs. Stieglitz, was remembered in the Majs on Wednesday morning at the request of the neighbors or the Gus Stieglitz family: this morning, Mrs. William Campbell requested the Mass for Joseph Heriter: and, tomorrow morning the Mass will be said for the deceased relatives and friends of St. Christopher parish. Auxiliary Bishop J. Sheen of New York, beloved by Catholics and non-Catholics, has been named to receive the 1956 Good Citizenship Medal of the Philadelphia Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution. The medal is given annually to the American “considered to be outstanding in his contributions to the welfare of the United States.” All activities of St. Valentine’s Day, this year Shrove Tuesday, will end at midnight as the penitential season of Lent begins. ’As many of the faithful as possibly can will attend the Mass Wednesday morning and receive the ashes in the form of a cross on their foreheads, hearing the words repeated again, “Remember man that thou art dust, and to dust thou shalt return.” Ashes will be distributed again Wednesday night after sef/ices. ' Lent is a time for the breaking away from the world, a time of self-sacrifice and self-denial. What may be a sacrifice for some, may appear as nothing to others. Judge not. Pray much. I Lent is not only a season of negatives, but more a season of affirmatives. ' ' Saturday is the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes . . . the Apparition of Our Lady at Lourdes to the little peasant girl, Bernadett ... at whose shrine in Lourdes, France, many miraculous cures have been and are being recorded. Pray daily your Rosary for peace in the world. Nora Bray
