James Tissot who spent ten years in painting the New Testament Series of paintings. These paints are now the property of the Brooklyn Museum. The Old Testament paintings which J. James Tissot has done hang in the New York Public Library. This collection now stands as the foremost series of religious paintings ever produced by any artist at anytime. Father Moriarity of the Fatima Retreat House at the two late Masses Sunday told the ladies, especially, how important a Retreat is to them. He said that what many women call reasons for hot making a retreat are really just excuses. Please call Mrs. Carl Sheets, BElmont 2301, if there is any question in any lady’s mind. Time of the Retreat is Friday, February 3d, the Feast of St. Blaze. The ladies will leave St. Christopher church at 7:00 o’clock Friday evening and return late Sunday afternoon. High Masses at 8 o’clock this week. On Tuesday morning, an Anniversary Requiem for Charles E. Knarzer requested by the Rolles and Nester families; Sister Carmelita requested the Mass on Wednesday morning, honoring St. Pius X; an Anniversary Requiem on Thursday morning for John Theiss at the request of the Arnold Theiss family; and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Cullen have requested the Mass on Friday for the CullenMcCoy families. Two hundred and forty women, not counting the thirty or forty workers, took advantage of the party, Ladies Night Out, last Thursday night at St. Christopher, and from all we could observe a mighty good time was had by all and the church treasury benefited. Such a merry time was had that the ladies asked for a repeat performance, so the same chairmen said, “OK. Come down THURSDAY night, FEBRUARY 2d, at 7 o’clock and we’ll try to give you as nice a party as this time, or better.” So ladies are circling that date, February 2d, on their calendars so that they won’t forget, and they all (or almost all) promised to come back and to bring someone with them on February 2d. The committee are to be congratulated. You’re saving your papers and magazines aren’t you for the Paper Sale, last week end in January? Remember every little bit counts ... no amount is too small.
