RED CROSS TRAINS HOME NURSES Nearly every individual at some time or other in his life is faced with the care of a sick or helpless person. This care can be administered skilfully and with ease when the individual has learned to use simple nursing skills taught in a free Red Cross Home Care of the Sick class. Many times the ability of the home nurse to carry out the doctor’s orders will shorten an illness. Her ability to keep the patient clean and comfortable will make the experience less disturbing to the patient and the household. The homemaker who is well trained in sickroom techniques will have the competence to cope with illness when it comes.

Red Cross instruction in Home Care of the Sick is free to any person over fourteen years of age and teaches the thirty-two basic nursing procedures most used in caring for the sick at home. Each instruction course, taught under the supervision of a graduate, or professional volunteer nurse, covers fifteen hours of class time. Some classes are held in the Red Cross chapter house, 1126 North Meridian Street, others in local churches, schools, and community centers. A phone call to Red Cross will give you information about the next class. Dial Melrose 4-1441 and ask about free Red Cross Home Care of the Sick instruction.
