SALVATION ARMY CHRISTMAS KETTLES TO APPEAR Traditional with Christmas is the appearance on the streets of the cities and towns of America, The Salvation Army Christmas Kettles, and ringing of the bells. This is the seventy-fifth anniversary of The Salvation Army’s activities in the United States and almost since its inception, it has taken care of poor and needy families at the Christmas season, in addition to taking Christmas remembrances to hospitals and institutions and to those who otherwise would be forgotten at the Christmas season. Brigadier Clyde Cox, the State Commander, (who unfortunately is still confined to his bed following a serious operation several months ago) states that following a preliminary survey nade by Salvation Army Officers in the City of Indianapolis that there will be an increasing number who will look to The Salvation Army at the Christmas season for help. Last year more than five hundred families were cared for with Christmas baskets or grocery orders and 428 homeless men were provided with Christmas dinners.
