their support of the library thru the years. A substantial gift has been received annually for the past several years. Miss LaVerne Ridlen, fifth grade teacher and elementary visual education director, has been named to participate as a panel member in an Audio-Visual Leadership Conference to be held at the Union Building of the I.U. Medical Center on Dec. 7. This, appointment is in recognition of Miss Ridlen’s leadership in this field. The Speedway Sparkplugs defeated Plainfield 53-44 last week for their third straight win of the season. This was the second MidState Conference victory for the Plugs. The reserve team lost 5432 to a strong Plainfield second team. Library Notes The Library is open to the public from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Each, year several of our students assist in the Library, doing some of the clerical routine tasks necessary in the operation of a school library. Some work during a part of their assigned Library period; others stay after school in the afternoon. The five students in grades 9 through 12 who are assistants this year are members of the state organization for library assistants. They are: Ann Beeson, Helen Hargitt, Pat Kuczenski, Jim Burkhart, Bart Updike. These students have been performing a real service to the school through their work in the Library and their efforts are appreciated. Next week we will direct our attention to the 7th and Bth grade students who are just beginning as assistants this year. LIONS CLUB CHRISTMAS TREE SALE STARTS SUNDAY. DEC. 4 16th STREET and LYNDHURST
