SPEEDWAY CHRISTIAN CHURCH (Continued from page 1) JUNIOR HI C.Y.F. Attention! Saturday, October 22nd, the Junior Hi C.Y.F. will be going to Dickersons’ for a hayride. Meet at the Church at 7:00 pan. and bring your own weiners. C.Y.F. is providing buns and soft drinks. Junior Hi-ers don’t forget your CY.F. meeting Sunday evening at 6:45 pan. The program will be one you will enjoy. CHOIR REHEARSALS Wednesday: 3:00 pan. Angelus Choir 7:30 pan. Chancel Choir Thursday : 3:00 p.m. Children’s Chorale 7:00 pan. Chapel Choir 8:00 pan. Cloister Choir Old Testament classes are continuing for two more Wednesday evenings, 7:30 to 8:30 pan. in the Junior Chapel. Everyone is most welcome to attend these remaining sessions, even though the previous classes have been missed. Rev. Thorne is the teacher. Candy making time is here for our overseas boys. Any donations of sugar, nuts, eggs, or money will be appreciated. Chris Hawkins is chairman of the project. The new offering envelopes for the coming fiscal year will be available next Sunday. They will be placed in alphabetical order on tables in the Narthex. If our members will pick up their envelopes in the next two Sundays, it will save the cost of mailing later. They should be put in use after Sunday, November 13th. We wish to extend our deepest appreciation to the members of our Christian Men’s Fellowship, for making last Sunday such a fine success as “Laymen’s Sunday.” Both worship services were an inspiration to all who attended. Also, the debut of our new Angelus Choir was immensely enjoyed. Sunday, October 30th, will be observed at both services as “Dean Shelton Sunday.” A number of months ago, Dean O. L. Shelton of the Butler School of Religion and his wife were involved in a car accident which resulted in the hospitalizing of Mrs. Shelton. Since that time she has been in a coma and partially paralyzed. Recovery has been very slow, specialists had to be called in, and the consequent expenses have been steadily mounting up. The family insurance has been used up and savings taxed. Since the Sheltons and the School have been so close to us, our Official Board felt we, as a Church, should do something to help them. Hence this observance of “Dean Shelton Day,” when the entire loose offering from both worship services will be turned over to them. We hope you will come prepared to make that offering a liberal love gift. Senior Hi C.Y.F. and Older Youth. Mrs. Heiser still has some unclaimed bed clothes at her home. If you are missing some, please contact her by phone, Be. 1696, or in person. Also, a blanket has been lost—red and blue with anchor design. If found, please contact Mrs. Heiser.

JR. HI C.Y.F. The Jr. Hi C.Y.F. executive meeting was held at Mrs. Rahm’s home, Tuesday, October 11 th We had refreshments, made plans for the October C.Y.F. meeting, and chose representatives from each class for Youth Council. They are: John Lennie from John Hayes’ class; Roger Heiser from Bob Parke’s class; Janet McClelland from Mr. Updike’s class; and Janet Briggs from Mrs. Briggs’ class.
