ST. CHRISTOPHER’S CATHOLIC CHURCH (Continued from page 1) ion in a body at the 8 o’clock Mass next Sunday. After the Mass, breakfast will be served downstairs, followed by their regular meeting. The program committee are presenting a very worth-while speaker, Mrs. Marie Lane. Mrs. Lane’s subject will be “Developing Christian Ideals in Today’s Youth.” A large attendance is expected and urged. St. Christopher school enjoyed a free day on Monday, because of the Feast Day of Assisi this week which was celebrated with a High Mass on Tueday morning at 8 o’clock. Our good Nuns are under the patronage of St. Francis of Assisi. Mrs. Beatrice Breen, R.N. of Speedway, Chairman of the Indianapolis Deanery of the Indianapolis Archdioceasan Council of Catholic Nurses announces the opening meeting of the Deanery on Tuesday evening, October Uth, at 7:30 in the St. Vincent’s Nurses’ Residence Auditorium. Mr. Freeman Ketren, Chief of Guidance, Counciling and Training Vocational Rehabiliation of the State of Public Instruction, will be the featured speaker. Your prayers are requested for Mrs. Inez Cole who is critically ill at St. Vincent Hospital. Mrs. Helen Hesselgrave of 5404 West 16th Street was the lucky member of the Merchandise Club last Sunday. Jimmie Geiman, son of Joseph and Mary Gelman, did the honors. Four year old Jimmie looked mighty “fallish” in his tan sport coat and brown slacks. High Masses on Wednesday and Thursday morning of this week were according to special intentions. Men of St. Christopher will go (into retreat at the Alverna Retreat House on October 21, 22d, and 23d. Men are urged to contact William Meyer or James Breen, Senior, and talk things over. The peacefullness and the opportunity to commune with your God at Alverna is beyond all words of expression. A large committee, co-chairmaned by Mesdames Helen Hesselgrave, Rose Sherman, and Katie Doyle, met Wednesday evening before the Altar Society meeting to begin their plans for the annual St. Christopher THANKSGIVING DINNER, which us to be offered to the public on Sunday, November 6th, this year. Yes, the Sunday before the big election in the Town of Speedway on Tuesday, November Bth. Circle both these dates as MUSTS. The person who has a firm trust in the Supreme Being is powerful in his power, wise by his wisdom, happy by his happiness—Addison. Pray daily your Rosary for peace in the world . . . and especially pray your Rosary during the month of October, the month dedicated to the Holy Rosary. Nora Bray
