COLUMBUS DAY PARADE On Sunday, October 9, 1955, the Knights of Columbus of Indianapolis will conduct the annual Columbus Day Parade in downtown Indianapolis. This year the host Council for the observance is Holy Family Council 3682 located at 1003 N. King Avenue, Indianapolis. The parade will form at 2:30 pm. on the southwest segment of Monument Circle, and will move south on Meridian Street to Washington Street, west on Washington Street to Senate Ave-

nue and north on Senate Avenue to the statue of Christopher Columbus located on the Statehouse lawn. At this point Governor Craig, Lieutenant Governor Handley, Mayor Alex Clark and other State and City dignitaries will be introduced by Marion County Sheriff Robert O’Neal, who will act aS master of ceremonies. Principal speaker on the program will be the Honorable Wilbur Royce, Judge Appellate Court, who will also place the wreath on the statue of Christopher Columbus. The parade will be led by the Sacred Heart Central High School Band. Approximately 200 uniformed policemen and firemen will appear in the parade as well as a number of uniformed color guards of the Fourth Degree Assemblies of the Knights of Columbus from Indianapolis and surrounding towns. Invocation will be given by Reverend Augustine J. Sansone, Pastor, Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Indianapolis, and the benediction by Reverend Edward McLaughlin, Chaplain of Holy Family Council. Choral music selections will be Monsignor Downey Choral Group from Monsignor Downey Council, Knights of Columbus. In conjunction with the observance this year, the Knights of Columbus Councils in Indianapolis are having the statue of Christopher, Columbus located on the Statehouse lawn cleaned and renovated. New bronze tablets with suitable inscriptions will also be placed on the base of the statue. The public is cordially invited to witness the parade and to attend the ensuing program.
