SPEEDWAY CHRISTIAN CHURCH (Continued from page 1) morning with Forestine teaching Church School, and Gene with a big assist from the Older Youth, has charge of our morning worship. There are so many things, it would take the church column to tell about it. One thing though, Mrs. Gilmore and the mothers have planned fine meals along with the Youth Committee. We all love to eat. So tit’s off to Indian Lake for a mountain-top experience! DON’T FORGET YOUR NOSEBAG LUNCH FOR SATURDAY AFTERNOON. FOR THOSE UNABLE TO GO TO RETREAT: There will be a class for you Sunday morning in the room off of Junior Chapel. Mr. Troth will be teaching the lesson on “Dare We Follow Jesus?” Be sure to come. The Youth Council will meet at 7:00 p.m. Monday evening in -the church office. The Religious Education Committee will hold their meeting tin the Golden Rule Room Monday evening at 7:30 p.m. The Executive Committee of the Official Board will conduct their regular bi-monthly meeting in the Golden Rule Room Tuesday evening at 7:30 p.m. The Class in Old Testament will meet in the Junior Chapel Wednesday, 7:30 to 8:30 p.m., taught by Rev. Thome. Have you missed it so far? All those attending have greatly enjoyed it and received a great deal from it. Consider this your invitation, along with any visitors, to attend the three remaining sessions on Wednesdays from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. This Class would be especially beneficial to the Church School teachers and prospective teachers. CHOIR REHEARSALS Wednesday: 3:00 p.m. 3rd and 4th Graders; 7:30 p.m. Chancel Choir. Thursday: 3:00 p.m. Children’s Chorale; 7:00 pm. Chapel Choir; 8:00 p.m. Cloister 'Choir. The Los Amigos Class will have their regular pitch-in dinner at 6:30 pm. Friday in Fellowship Hall. The meat will be furnished and members will be contacted by the telephone committee. We are happy to welcome into our membership last Sunday, Miss Shirley Gillespie of 3649 W. 16th St. SENIOR HIGH CLASS: Beginning October 16th, there will be only one class at Heisers’, that is at 10:00. The 8:10 a.m. class has been cancelled. Gene Hagerty will be teaching. On Sunday, October 16th, we will observe our annual Laymen’s Sunday, which is under the sponsorship of United Church Men, of the National Council of Churches, and supported by our own Christian Men’s Fellowship. Our laymen will be in complete charge of both worship services on that Sunday. PARENTS OF THIRD YEAR JUNIORS, (Grade 6). We had only 24 boys and girls last Sunday. We know there are more in our congregation. Won’t you please, as parents of these boys and girls, see that they get to Church School? If you don’t, they will be missing out on their Christian foundation for their lives which are ahead. GOLDEN RULE CLASS ELECTS OFFICERS. The Class elected the following officers for the year of 1955-56: Harriet Shepherd, President; Anna Smith, Vice-President; Mary Gaskill, Secretary; Mr. W. C. Wickerham, treasurer. The Devotions committee will be headed by Mrs. June Scholl and the Cheer committee by Ethel Loyd. This Class is our oldest and yet one of our most active classes. They certainly are good examples of fine Christian living.

PITMAN-MOORE NEWS Pitman-Moore Company, Indianapolis pharmaceutical firm, has announced the addition of Dr. E. F. Sanders to its scientific staff at the company’s biological laboratories in Zionsville. A native of Neosha, Kansas, he received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Kansas State College, Manhattan, Kansas in 1927. Following graduation, he joined the technical staff of Massachusetts Agricultural College tin Amherst, and in 1929 became an assistant professor at the University of Missouri in Columbia. Early Dyemakera Dyes of vegetable origin were used almost exclusively by prim* itive man. They were obtained in the vicinity, with the dyer merely collecting dye plants and roots in nearby fields or forests and boiling them in water. The range of color was very narrow, being confined to red, blue, yellow, green, brown and black. Variants in shades were quite limited.

The Sparkplugs, varsity football lost to Lawrence Central 26-0 in a game at (Lawrence Central last Friday night. On Monday night the Reserves defeated Mooresville 32-6.
