St. Christopher’s Catholic Church 5335 West 16ih Street Rev. L. A Lindemann Pastor Sunday Masses: 0:00 o’clock Are you going to St. Michael’s Church Festival Friday and Saturday, August 19 and 20? Their invite says to bring the entire family. Games will be played, and fish and chicken will be offered to satisfy your hunger. St. Michael’s is on West 30th Street at Tibbs Avenue. Our sympathy to Mr. and Mrs. ?. G. Martich and family. Ann’s father, John Hajduk of Whiting, Indiana died last Tuesday. . Save those telephone books which they didn’t pick up this year for St. Christopher PAPER SALE which will be sometime in September. Save all your papers and magazines too. Mesdames Sue Whitmore and Helen Houck will have charge of the Sale. Exact date will be announced later. We were told that there is a FISH DINNER scheduled for late in September, with Mesdames Loretta Taylor and Irene Brosner in charge. Saturday, we understand, that three more good nuns will join us. Our own, we feel that she was our own but of course she really wasn’t, Sister Margaret Clare exchanged places with our new Superior, Sister Mary Denis. Friday is the feast of St. Clare. Monday is the feast of the Assumption, a holyday of obligation. Saturday is the vigil anticipated. The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin—when our Blessed Lady died her precious body was placed in the grave. But that grave is now empty and the Church has declared it a matter of faith that the body of the Blessed Mother of God was assumed into Heaven. In this way, Almighty God showed His solicitude for the body which contained this beautiful soul. As Catholics, we should regard our own bodies as objects of respect. They contain our souls likewise destined for Heaven. Masses will be at 6:00, 7:00, and 9:00 o’clock in the morning and at 8:00 o’clock in the evening. The best way of training the young is to train yourself at the same time; not to admonish them, but to be seen never doing that of which you would admonish them.—Plato. Pray daily the prayers of your rosary beads for peace in the world. Nora Bray
