Heberden, 22, and Donald G. Reichard, 26, as deputies for the law enforcement division of the sheriffs department. They were appointed to fill vacancies caused by the resignations of William H. Shelton and Charles R. Lumpkin, who have accepted appointments with the Indianapolis Police Department. Heberden resides with his parents at 2209 Greenrock Lane, East Drive. He formerly worked as a district man for the Star-News and as a drive-in assistant. Reichard is married’ and lives at 1962 Clark Road, Speedway. He attended the Indiana State Police training school and has been assistant to the manager of the small loan office of Commonwealth Loan Co. Maj. Robert H. Shields, division chief, said after a training period the new deputies will be assigned to road patrol.

Miss Eckel will marry Jack Schwomeyer July 10th. Those attending were: Mesdames Herbert Eckel, Charles Herdrich, Dave Morris, Ralph Pennington, Donald Kiefer, Charles Mellon, J. L. Finke and John Ellis. Miss Ann Healey has recently been initiated into Spurs, the national sophomore women’s honorary at Butler University, for the following school year. Membership' is based on scholarship, leadership, and campus activities. She has been elected to the office of vice-president of this honorary. Ted Murray is recovering from injuries suffered in an accident. She is in room A-244 Methodist Hospital and may have visitors. She will probably be in the hospital about three more weeks. Speedway folks were pleased to see the picture of John Powell, 5058 W. 15th St., published in the Indianapolis News last Thursday. John was in Korea and is now stationed at El Toro, Santa Ana, California, First Marine Air Wing Base. John expects to be home sometime in the Fall.
