SCHOOL NEWS (Continued from Page 1) Speedway calendar calls for dismissal on Wednesday, December 21. Because of their shorter term Marion County Schools will close on June 8, 1956. Indianapolis will be in session until June 15. Due to our shorter Christmas Vacation, even though we have the same amount of school as Indianapolis, Speedway Schools will close for students on June 8, 1956, and for teachers June 9. This is comparable to our calendar for this school year. It was felt that school should be out as early as possible in the summer and consequently this calendar was adopted. May 30 Last Day for Pupils June 8 Last Day for Teachers June 9 The Speedway Sparkplugs won the Danville Sectional Basketball Tourney last weekend by defeating Lizton 69-59, Danville 64-62, and Plainfield 73-59. The first two games were hard fought and close most of the way, while in the Plainfield game the Spark Plugs soon gained a commanding lead and held it to the end of the game. Speedway plays Anderson at 1:00 pm. Saturday in the first game of the Indianapolis Regional. Crispus Attucks and Wilkinson play the second afternoon game beginning at 2:15.
