LOCAL RED CROSSERS PUTTING SANTA’S ’ WORKSHOP IN ORDER Santa Claus has many little helpers at the local Red Cross where volunteers, young and old alike, are busy putting his Marion County workshop in order. Red Cross Juniors, through their school classes, are turning out more than 3000 holiday items —nut cups, tray favors, party boxes, table centerpieces, wall hangings to be distributed among the veterans hospitals, Central State Hospital, the Suemma Coleman Home and Children’s Guardian Home. Senior volunteers are setting up a free gift-wrapping service at the West 10th Street veterans hospital. They’re taking on personal shopping chores for hospitalized veterans and Gls. They’re wrapping more than 700 Red Cross Yule gifts for these sick Gls and veterans. Already they have purchased, gift-wrapped and mailed the Red Cross gifts for servicemen who will celebrate Christmas Day on the high seas. It has been a busy season for Chapter volunteers who are making sure Santa knows about the many Marion County shut-ins.
