St. Christopher's Catholic Chmh 5335 West 13th Street Rev. L. A. Lindemann Pastor Sunday Masses: 6:00 o’clock High Masses this week are as follows—on Monday morning according to a special intention: on Wednesday morning for John and Anne Kuczenski requested by the Lawrence Kuczenski family: and on Friday morning for Mrs. Thomas Barrett requested by Marie Stieglitz. The children sing these High Masses at eight o’clock. The Feast Day of St. Teresa, sometimes known as the old St Teresa in contrast with St. Theresa, the Little Flower of Jesus, is tomorrow. CYO girls will begin baby sitting Sunday, October 17th, for the 9:30 Mass. John Otte, the son of Betty and Carl Otte, drew the winning name Sunday for the Merchandise Club. John is 10 years old and is in the fifth grade of St. Christopher school. He drew Mrs Donna Graybill of 2203 Allison Avenue as the winner. This is the fourth week of the club. If you feel hungry Sunday, St. Mary’s church at Danville, x Indiana are inviting everyone there to partake in a turkey dinner, served from 12 noon until 2:30 o’clock, we believe they said. They are also holding a fall bazaar along with their turkey dinner. And if you feel like playing cards either Sunday afternoon or evening, or both, St. Joseph at its new location will entertain you. Food will be served between the card parties, so that you can go, stay for both games, and still not go hungry. St. Christopher always invites both of these parishes to dinners given by us, .so if anyone can it would be mighty fine to attend these affairs. Members of the Holy Name Society entertained their daughters at breakfast after the eight o’clock Mass last Sunday morning. The girls looked mighty pretty in their corsages. Eugene Enlow was elected president of the St. Christopher Civics Club for the coming year. The other officers who will serve with Eugene are James Rolles, vice-president; Linda Swails, secretary; Mary Ellen Benedetto, treasurer, and Rose Claire Gorden, sergeant-at-arms. Johnny Freund is publicity. More people should try to go to daily Communion. Begin first by going once a month, most of us do that; then, go every Sunday; then decide that you are going at least one day a week also; and keep on, and before you realize it you will be receiving our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament each morning. The many blessings which are received by worthily receiving are untold. If possible, attend daily Mass. However, we know that that is something we all can’t do on account of duties in the home and our work. The more effort which has to be put forth, the harder it is for us, we all know the more graces are ' gained. Daily Mass at St. Christopher is at 6:30 o’clock, unless a High Mass is announced. Communion is distributed from until eight o’clock. . .... One is as it were rich, when he hath nothing. Prov. 13:7. Pray daily your Rosaries for peace in the world. Nora Bray

LIONS TH SPEND WEEK GATHERINGFUNDS Indiana Lions Clubs have begun a month-long drive to increase the activities fund through which aid is furnished the state's blind, and to projects in cancer control and other worthy causes, it was announced yesterday. Under the direction of a sixman committee, headed by Ray L. Oeth of the Speedway Club, the state’s Lions Chib membership will sell bags of electric light bulbs to enrich the fund. The bags, containing four 75-watt, four 60-watt and three 100-watt bulbs of a leading brand, will sell for the regular price of $2. First container of bulbs was sold Friday by Oeth to Indiana’s First Lady, Mrs. George N. Craig, at the Governor’s Mansion, 4300 North Meridian Street, a few minutes after Craig had proclaimed October as “Lions Bag of Bulbs Sale Month.” Mr. Leon Wright is chairman of the Speedway protect. The sales will be run from Monday, October 18th thru Saturday, October 23rd. In connection with Leader Dogs, Oeth explained that because only a few hundred of the valuable dogs can be trained annually due to limitations of present facilities, an enlargement of the Michigan school is necessary to meet the demand for the dogs. Training of the canine aides to the sightless costs about $1,250 per dog and owner. Latest Lions Club project in cancer control is a proposed diagnostic unit which Indiana Lions agreed to purchase for the Medical Center at their state convention earlier this year. The unit will cost $20,000. Expenditures from the cancer control fund elsewhere than at the Medical Center are authorized under its articles of incorporation, but only “on counsel of recognized medical authority.” It is only one of several in which money from the current “bag of bulbs sale” will be used, Oeth explained. CARD PARTY The Ways & Means Committee of the O.E.S. will give a card party and style show October 22 at 7:30 in the Speedway High School Gym.
