CRABGRASS Tough, wiry, purplish seed heads, hard to mow? THEN your lawn needs drastic treatment, the sooner the better. 1. Secure supply of Scutl on the basis area to be treated. 2. Mow so the grass is not more than 114 to 2 inches tall before application. Remove heavy clippings lest they prevent Scutl from reaching the Crabgrass plants. 3. Fill the Spreader with Scutl. Make application when there is dew on the grass or moisten the foliage with a fine spray. This is especially important where brisk winds may knock Scutl particles off the Crabgrass. 4. After a couple of days resume mowing and watering. Control will be better if soil is kept moist. 5. Application should be repeated after 7 days. If grass is tall, cut back to 1% or 2 inches. This program will produce the following results:

1. Turn lawn temporarily brown. Grasses other than Crabgrass will recover. 2. Even though all Crabgrass may not actually be killed, the effect will be to prevent ripening of seed by which mature plants perpetuate the pest. If Crabgrass is prevented from maturing seed this year, there will be less in the lawn next year. 3. Stop Crabgrass in August so you can go ahead with a real lawn improvement program in the J late summer—the best time of the year. Knocking out Crabgrass and' other weeds is the first step. |

Put the Heat into the Food Instead of Your Kitchen < The basic advantages of Electricity over flame V just naturally give youV cooler kitchen. , : x With an Electric range, your utensils are in di- < rect contact with the surface heating elements so that the heat goes right in the food. There’s no & air space in between from which heat can escape. Also, because Efoetrioty does not require air circulation to produce combustion as in flame-type cooking, an Electric range oven can be insulated at the bottom as well as top and sides to hold the heat. RDY SCDUTNEWS (Continued tram Pag* 1) the two men mentioned above who gave so unselfishly of their time and effort. In behalf pt the Scouts and the Committee a million thanks Chris and Dick. We feel sure your help will always be remembered. Fred Seitz and Bill Hackett were chosen to represent Troop 66, at the annual Patrol, Loaders training course held the week at July 4, at Camp Bradford, Ind. The purpose of this course is te teach boys to be good leaders and bring them up to date on Scouting, so that they in turn can assist, their Scoutmasters next September when we fall into the regular routine of weekly meetings, and teach some of the younger boys the finer points of being a good leader. In the writers opinion the Scoutmaster’s choice was a wise one and the proof of this shows in the records of Camp Belzer where Billie passed eight Merit Badges and Fred passed Firecrafter, (one of the toughest trails in Indiana Scouting) and will again {Wve their Scoutmasters confidence in them in meetings to come. Nice going boys. Hey Fellows—How about those San-A-Lozers, lets sell them And turn the money over to your Patrol Leader. We need the dough. This concludes our activities for the summer. Any Scout who is ready to advance or who has passed on a Merit Badge should turn the necessary information over to his Scoutmaster, who will have the badge or pin ready at the first meeting in September. JOB’S DAUGHTERS (Continued trom page D know if you’re going to the “Informal Opening” of Supreme Council, and, of course, you’ll say “yes.” They’ll also want to find out whether or not you can furnish transportation. Another thing they’ll remind you of is “Supreme Church Sunday,” which will be August 15. Everybody, who can, please try to go, because we want Speedway well represented. I think I got the “cart before the horse.” Maybe I should have told you about the “Lawn Social” before I jumped into Supreme since it comes first on the calendar. But, anyway, the “Sumther * Supper” is to be held August 7 and serving will begin at 5:00 p.m. Ann has asked that all the girls be at the Temple at 10:00 a.m. that Saturday, so everyone * be sure to go, if possible. Another thing, all you mothers can bring w your pies and cakes to the Temple about 9:30 a.m., if you will, please. Well I guess that’s it for now. I’ll see you at Ann’s, Tuesday. Nancy Lewis, Pub.
