TOWN NEWS (Continued rrom page 1) . has been working diligently‘.toward the beautification of our park and playground. Sketches and blueprints have been drawn as basis for proposed future landscaping of this area. As a beginning for this program, sixteen new trees, consisting of Maples, Oaks, Gum, and Linden, will be planted very soon by the Hillsdale Nursery. These trees will be 2% inches in diameter, or larger,, and will be wrapped and guyed for their protection. The Board would greatly appreciate it, if parents would instruct their youngsters to avoid any damage to the wrappings or guy wires of these new trees. Unfortunately, and yet, possibly Unwittingly, a great deal of damage and destruction have been done to equipment and facilities in the park; to mention one, the oven, donated by Tri Kappa Sorority, was partially torn down. However, we are very grateful to Ernest Eppen for donating his time and services in making the necessary repairs on this oven. New playground equipment is also being planned for this year, and suggestions for these have been sent to the Town Board for approval. Their decision will be announced at a later date. Many residents have complained about the inadequacy of our park facilities. Now that this situation is being overcome, let us, as citizens, give the Park Board our support, and through our own adult civic pride, set an example for the Speedway children who will be enjoying these new park improvements. Thus money spent ordinarily for repair of damage, caused by wanton destruction, can be used instead for additional equipment and beautification.
