St. Christopher’s Catholic Church 5335 West 16th Street Rev. L. A Lindemann Pastor Sunday Masses: 6:00 o’clock Tomorrow, we celebrate the Feast of St. Joseph, the Spouse of the Blessed Virgin and Patron Saint of these United States under the title of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. St. Joseph was by birth of the royal family of David, but was living in humble obscurity as a carpenter when God raised him to the highest sanctity and fitted him to be the spouse of the Virgin Mother. Holy Scripture tells us that Joseph was a just man and a lover of children for the sake of the Holy Child. St. Joseph should be the chosen guardian and pattern of every true Christian family. High Masses this week offered for our deceased relatives and friends were at 8 o’clock on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday mornings. Mrs. Chas. Stevens of 5645 West 16th Street was the hicky member of the Merchandise Club last week. Mrs. Stevens is buying a set of that beautiful Ecco tableware, but her luck Sunday only entitled her to half of her set. Little 4 year old Shirley Marie Alderson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Shirley Alderson of 6522 West 12th Street, drew out the winner. Shirley ■was very prettily dressed for wintry weather, as indeed Sunday was even if it was the fourteenth of March, in a red coat with white fur hat and white fur purse to match. Ladies, please keep the Lenten aprons moving. When you receive the apron, don’t wait to try it out and use it when you prepare dinner or lunch, even though it is mighty pretty and you may wish you could keep it, but sew on your patch, placing underneath the patch your Lenten denial, scratch out your name, and pass it on to another name on your list which has not been scratched off. A few ladies dropped in Nora Bray’s house last Thursday evening to discuss the possibility of having published another St. Christopher Tops In Food Cook Book. Five years ago this summer the first book was offered for sale at the Annual Festival and in less than a year two thousand copies were sold. So it has been decided to begin work on a second book, and God willing, to offer it for sale at this year’s Summer Festival. If there is anyone Catholic or non-Catholic, who owns a first book or has seen a copy, who has any criticisms or suggestions to offer, Nora Bray would appreciate it very much if they would drop her a note or call evenings after 6. Announcement was made at all the Masses Sunday for the good ladies of St. Christopher, and men too, to write out their favorite recipes and drop them in the boxes provided in the School Hall any time during Lent. The active and auxiliary members of The Legion of Mary will gather together in St. Mary’s Church, Vermont and New Jersey Streets, Indianapolis, on next Sunday afternoon, March 21, 1954, at 4:00 o’clock to renew their consecration to Our Lady. This devotion is known as the Acies. Acies is a Latin word, meaning “an army ranged in battle array” and is, therefore, appropriate to a ceremony in which the Legionaries as'Coutinued on Page 5)
