Mr. Koonse studied techniques in tissue culture with poliomyelitis at Yale University under Dr._ Joseph Melnick, head of virus research at the University and a noted virologist in polio research. While at Yale, Mr. Koonse performed tissue culture work as part of experiments involving the effectiveness of radio active elements on viruses. Mr. Koonse served in the United States Army from 1943 to 1945.

Something is now being done—and ah almost complete exchange of blood saves the baby’s life and prevents brain damage.. In one hospital the death rate from erythroblastosis fetalis has been reduced from 20 psr cent,to 4 per cent within the past nine years.

If there are not enough tourney tickets to supply the requests from the above named groups, the distribution shall be determined by a point system which includes: 6 points for season ticket to home games; 2 points for season ticket to the Plainfield Tourney purchased in Speedway; and 4 points for season ticket to the Marion County Tourney purchased in Speedway. , - For this season we have approximately 750 students and adults who have season ticket standing. Speedway will receive 250 sectional tickets. Those who wish to purchase Sectional season tickets, but who were not season ticket holders, may fill out request blanks and return them; however, the chances that there will be sufficient number of tickets to honor the requests are not too good. Every effort will be made to distribute tickets on a fair and equitable basis. Tickets will be on sale the week of the 22nd of February. All those who return request blanks will be notified the status of their request by mail or by telephone on or before February 23.

School attendance during January and February has been somewhat less than in the fall, but has been good for this time of year. At Elementary No. 1 the percentage was: Kindergarten, 85%; First Grade, 85%; Second Grade, 93%; Third Grade, 97%; Fourth Grade, 95%; Fifth Grade, 95%; Sixth Grade, 95%. At Elementary No. 2 it was Kindergarten, 81%; First Grade, 89%; Second Grade, 96%; Third Grade, 96%; Fourth Grade, 97%; Fifth Grade, 96%; Sixth Grade, 97%. Speedway is one of the four sites which will produce a winner to play in the finals of the tourney Feb. 20.
