One hundred general purpose private hospital beds will also be added to facilities at the Indiana University Medical Center at an estimated cost of $650,000, Conner pointed out and emphasized that no part of the program called for bond issues or tax funds. “These facilities are all needed right now,” Conner said. “With 1,000 persons on the waiting lists of our hospitals each day, we have to provide an immediate remedy.” Hoffman, who has taken over the responsibility for the Employee Solicitation Division, has been personnel director with the Allison Division since 1943. A native Hoosier, he had been with Delco-Remy Division and Packard Electric Division previous to that time. Active in civic affairs, Hoffman holds memberships in the Indianapolis Kiwanis Club, Alpha Gamma Upsilon, Fraternity, National Association of Foremen, Personnel Directors Association, the Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce, General Motors Club and the Highland Golf and Country Club.
