SCHOOL NEWS (Continued rrom Page 1) Grove’s Hornets 64 to 36 here, last Friday night. Dave Wilson of Speedway gave the home crowd a thrill when he scored 11 points in the first quarter to lead Speedway to a 15 to 10 margin. After Gene Russell had missed a pair of free throws, the Hornets proceeded to take 8 charity tosses out of bounds and attempted seven from the 15-foot line. Wilson cooled off in the second period although he scored a very respectable 6 points. Billy Toole aided the Sparkplug cause when Wilson slowed down by whipping the nets for 8 points. At the end of the first half of firing the “Plugs” had a 38 to 16 lead, more points than the Horn-

ets were to score in the entire game. During the third stanza the teams played on even terms, but Speedway still picked up 13 points to lead 51 to 28 at the 3rd stop. Ross Page, who hit 4 buckets in the third period, couldn’t bribe one to go in during the last quarter when all 12 “Plugs” saw action. Wilson, Billy Toole, and Dick Jordan headed the home five with 21, 9, and 8 points respectively. Gene Russell sank 13 points and Ross Page racked up 10 for the losers in a futile attempt at stopping Speedway from gaining its sth victory in nine starts. The Reserve team won its seventh without a setback, 36 to 20, to make a happy evening for both Speedway coaches.
