Clermont To Organize Fire Department “The people in the Clermont area are organizing a Rural Fire Department to give quick fire protection in the territory between Speedway, Brownsburg, Traders Point and Rockville Road. The officials of this civic minded Organization, known as the Clermont Community Fire Company, are: Stanley Tyler, President; Verne Baldauf, Vice-President; Don Breedlove, Secretary-Trea-surer; Jorrest Alexander, Director, Pike Township (Marion Co.); Ron Mannon, Director, Wayne Township (Marion Co.); Abner Mears, Director, Washington Townsjap (Hendricks Co.); Richard LSnge, Director, Lincoln Township (Hendricks Co.); Floyd Good, Clermont Lions Club Advisor; Harold Trout, Fire Chief. A fire truck has been purchased, is now being outfitted and will soon be ready to answer fire calls. This truck will also be available for auxiliary fire equipment in the town of Clermont, and will be subject to call in the surrounding towns if needed. There will be no charge to anyone for fire runs.

This very worthwhile community project is being financed by voluntary donations. We urge every citizen in this area to join in this work, and if they possibly can, to make a contribution. Mail checks to the Secy.-Treas., Don Breedlove, R.R. 2, Box 341, Indianapolis, or see Floyd Good at the Good Elevator, Clermont. A scrap paper and metal drive is now in progress to also raise funds. Bring your old newspapers, magazines, scrap iron, steel, copper, aluminum, etc. and leave *them at/the rear of the Fire Station in Clermont.” Thanking you very much, we are Clermont Community Fire Co. - Don Breedlove I *

U. S. NAVY NEWS For the young Hoosiers from Indiana the U.S. Navy offers a future in electronics, aviation, submarines and many other technical fields. These Navy technical fields are the ones which offer superior training, and are the ones at which you can carve a successful and profitable career, whether you remain in the Navy or return to civilian life. You will be interested, also, to learn that more than 40% of the officers serving in the Navy today are former enlisted men. This means that there are real opportunities for advancement through the enlisted channels. You may still volunteer for the service of your choice. Complete information is available at your local Navy Recruiting Station, which is located in the Federal Post Office Building, in your town.
