Speedway High School Football Banquet Purdue’s football team lost, Indiana’s lost, Notre Dame’s won, Butler’s won—so what! So, just this! Win or lose, a lot of credit is due the players on a team. Speedway High School has a football team that deserves a lot of credit, too. They’ve put in a great deal of hard work learning to play as a team. They’ve taken many a hard bump and carried some bruises. They’ve done the job while you sit on the side lines and play at “quarterbacking.” Why not, then, plan to attend the annual Speedway High School Football Banquet to show your appreciation? Set aside, now, November 3 for your chance to let the squad know that the community is back of them. The annual dinner will be held at 7:00 p.m. at the Speedway Christian Church. Tickets are available at the school office or from any member of the Speedway Lions Club who sponsor this yearly function. What will your ticket entitle you to? First, a turkey dinner with all the trimmings. Second, a short talk by a person whose name is familiar to all football fans. Third, the opportunity to see the boys on the squad receive their awards. Fourth, the best chance of the year to tell the kids that the people of Speedway say “That’s our Team—Win or lose.” BUY YOUR TICKETS NOW FOR NOV. 3, 7:00 P.M. Speedway Baseball Association Now is the time to lay the groundwork for a successful baseball season next year. Election of officers will be held on Thursday, October 11th, 7:30 p.m., in the Visual Education room of the elementary school. If your boy played last year, or will next year, you owe it to him to attend this meeting and see that capable officers are elected for next year . . . and of course you will then want to give them active support. Many people have congratulated me on last summers program—but I am wondering how many of the people who Say this is a worthwhile project will act like it is . . . by helping the new president make a success of next year. Many thanks to this year’s officers, committee members, and coaches, whose willing efforts enabled us to provide a summer baseball program for over 100 boys. Tom Strouse, President.
