Seventeen employees of the Citizen Gas and Coke Utility were induced into the Quarter-Century Club at the 12th annual Utility dinner at the Lincoln Hotel. Certificates and lapel pins were awarded in recognition of their 25 years of service with the Gas Utility. The entire membership of the Utility’s Quarter-Century Club represents 5,088 years of public service to the City of Indianapolis. Thos. L. Kemp, general manager of the Utility and honorary member of the Quarter-Century Club, presented the lapel pins and Dean T. Burns, assistant general manager, presented parchment scrolls to the following new members: Lois Bell, Paul Eddingfield, and Tinsel Miller from the Main Office; Delilah Clift, Fred J. Schmidt, J. B. Quigley, Ed Nuetzman, Ray McCaslin, H. E. Clark, and Joe Lester from the West 9th Distribution Department; Fred Schmidt, John Hightshoe, J. F. Guirl, Harry Relford, and Thomas Armstrong from the Prospect Street Manufacturing Plant; and O. B. Hundley, and Carl Rieman from the Langsdale Avenue Plant. Induction of these 17 new members brings the total membership of the Utility’s Quarter-Century Club to 165, representing 15% of the Utility’s personnel. Of the 165, there are 14 women members. Recognition was given also to the club’s 30 retired members; three of whom have served the company continuously for more than 50 years. There are seven members with 40 or more years of service.
