tion for the Indiana Elementary and Secondary Schools. We are happy to have our people contribute to state organizations and committees of this kind. An instruction model of a voting machine has been purchased for the Social Studies. Department. This is made by the same company that manufactures the voting machines used in elections. The model has the same type of levers and is operated similarly to the regular machine. Students practice with this machine in order to acquaint themselves with its operation. Any adults in the community are welcome to come to school and operate the machine which is located in the room of Mr. Dale Weller, history and government teacher. ■ ■ «■ ■ Construction of the library edition is rapidly drawing to a close except that it appears that the delivery of heating and ventilating units will defer the completion of the work. Every effort is being extended to have these units delivered as soon as possible. There will be a High School Open House when this addition is complete. Elementary Open House will be held next Wednesday, November 8, preceding the regular P.T.A.

SPEEDWAY DOWNS PIKE by Jim DeMoaa In the first half of the game between the Sparkplugs and the Red Devils played at Speedway’s field a week ago, last Wednesday neither team could penetrate the other’s goal-line once the danger zone was approached. Although considerable yardage was piled up by both teams, penalties and determined young hearts kept both teams from crossing into the other’s end zone. So at half-time the score read: Speedway 0; Pike 0. In the third quarter Speedway’s passing which had been clicking throughout the whole first half finally paid off. Dave Wilson faded hack to Pike’s own 20 yard line, started

running parallel to the line of scrimmage, and "jump-passed” to Bill Gross in the end zone for Speedway’s first T.D., Wilson then sneaking over for the conversion. Again in the fourth quarter while running to his right Wilson hit Gerald Endres on the five yard line and Endres side-stepped a Pike tackier and stepped into the end zone for the Sparkplugs’ second touchdown. Kuykendall, who had been playing his usual unstoppable game et fullback, then drove over for the extra point. That was the end of the scoring for the evening and the gun went off minutes later ending the game. Final Score: Speedway 14; Pike 0.
