Butler vs. Ball State Butler University’s Bulldogs and Ball State’s Cardinals, following a two-year recess, will renew their rivalry Saturday (Oct. 14) when they clash for the sixteenth time on the Cardinal gridiron. The long-heralded hattie will find Butler still attempting to break into the victory trail after having succumbed to Ohio University and Evansville while tying Wabash in previous appearances. t Historically speaking, Butler reigns far supreme over its Indiana Intercollegiate Conference op|x>nent. Since 1927, when the feud was officially launched, the Bulldogs have compiled a record of. 13 triumphs in 15 games. The Cardinals waited 18 years before finally breaking the spell held by the Bulldogs. In 1945, they copped a 16-2 decision, followed by a 6-6 deadlock in ’47.

However, Coach John Magnabosco’s crew, after a year’s period of rejuvenation, began to make itself heard in grid circles around Indiana. In 1949 the Cards subjugated eight consecutive opponents by overwhelming margins, accumulating 276 points against a mere 61 by the losers.
