Speedway Alumni Dance Evergreen Terrace at Longacre Park will be the scene of the Speedway High School Alumni Dance on Friday, June 9. A short business meeting, conducted by Mr. George Ziegelmueller, president of the alumni association, will signal the beginning or festivities at 8:00 p.m. One of the high points of this meeting will be the election of officers for the 1950-1951 year. Mr. Robert Genung, chairman of the nominating committee, states that nominations from the floor will also be in order. Initiation rites for the graduating class of 1950 will then be conducted by Mr. Jack Mayhugh, President of the Class of 1949 and chairman of this alumni dance. Music for the dance following initiation will be provided by Bob Harrah, a graduate of the Class of 1946, and his orchestra. Beverly Van Cleve is vocalist for this organization. The other officers, Ist Vice President, Mrs. Anna Laura Hoerger, 2nd Vice President, Mr. Jack Mayhugh, Recording Secretary, Mrs. Margerie Hubble, Corresponding Secretary, Mrs. Jean Wilson, and Treasurer, Mr. Walter Slattery, join the president in urging all graduates of 1950, all former graduates, and all former and present teachers of Speedway

Many Thanks! - How can we of 4he Youth Department adequately express our deep appreciation to Mary Urban and those of our mothers who labored so strenuously Saturday and Sunday to prepare and serve those two delicious meals at our retreat at Bethany Park last Sunday! We do thank you very much and can only repay you by patterning the type of Christian life exemplified and taught by the services of the day. And to Helen Kelley, who so ably directed our recreation for the day and helped our recreation committees plan for the next year; as well as Anna K. Hammer, who helped our study and worship committees plan; Lynn Burton, who helped the enlistment committees; and Lorene Thome, who helped the service and social action committees; also to Maurice Cragun, who led our interest group discussion on “Thine Is The Glory in My Life Work”; and Rev. Thorne who presented a most inspirational talk at our vesper services—to all of you a heartfelt thank you. Our outside leaders, Miss Jerry Simmons of the Geneva Conference Council, and Miss Nellie Young, Director of Religious Education of Central Christian Church were most helpful in their guidance too, and we owe them a debt of gratitude. Then Bob Jiuber, Bob McMahon, John Hayes, and Russell Cunningham for their efficient work helping plan and conduct the worship of the day, securing transportation for us all, publicizing the event, and helping secure recreation equipment, respectively, we thank you.
