SCHOOLNEWS (Continued from page 1) ents may attend the festival if they wish. z Mr. Lincoln Northcott, has been attending the elementary Principals’ Convention in St. Louis the past week. He is spending part of the time observing the reading improvement program in the St. Louis schools. George McClelland, sixth grade teacher who has been ill the past few weeks, is improving and expects to be able to resume his teaching in the near future. L. E. Thompson, high school principal, has been attending the meeting of the North Central Association at Chicago the latter part of this week. The evaluation of Speedway High School for North Central membership will be considered at this meeting.

Teachers in both the elementary and high school reported favorably on their observations during teacher visiting day, Wednesday, March 15. Schools were visited in Muncie, Crawfordsville, Bloomington, West Lafayette, Lebanon, Frankfort, Rushville, Shelbyville, Columbus, Marion, Portland, and Marion County. Elementary teachers spent most of their time inspecting new elementary buildings in order to make recommendations for Speedway’s elementary building which is to be built at 18th and Whitcomb. Marilyn Smith, Doris White, Cordelia Ratliff, and Mrs. Strong attended a Career Day Tuesday, March 21. Hostesses were Home Economists in Business in Indianapolis. After tea was served there were short talks given by members of the organization to describe qualifications, salaries, trials, and pleasures of their respective positions. Cub Scout Handicraft Show A display of handicraft produced by the Cub Scouts of the Central Indiana Council will be held at the Ipalco Hall (16th and' Alabama) March 31 and April Ist Now well established as a tradition in the Central Indiana Council, a Red Feather Agency, is this display of the types of Handicraft material which the Cub Packs have made throughout the - year. Robert Price, Chairman, of the Committee, stated that well over 200 types of Handicraft will be on exhibition. Most Cub Packs follow a monthly theme and use some type of Handicraft to set into this monthly subject. This year, for the first time, will be on Display Handicraft suitable to that particular monthly theme. Over a 100 Cub Packs will disbest material on large tables and in many cases a Den Mother or Member of the Pack Committee will demonstrate the method of making this type of Handicraft.

Because this is largely a Training feature, Cub Leaders and friends are especially invited. Because of the space in the type of program, Cubs are not invited.
