SCHOOLNEWS (Continued from page 1) Hanna - The sixth grade room now being taught by Mrs. Davis is working on an exhibit of dolls in foreign costume under the direction of their art teacher, Miss Garth. The senior boys gained victory in the Hi-Y Class Tournament by defeating the sophomores 46-40. The consolation game results were: Juniors 35, freshmen 31. A trophy will be presented to the victors on Awards Day. The inter-class tournament sponsored by the Girls* Athletic Association will be played next Monday and Tuesday, March 6 and 7. The schedule is as follows: Monday—- • 6:3o—Freshmen vs. Juniors 7:3o—Sophomores vs. Seniors Tuesday—--6:3o—Consolation game 7:3o—Final game Co-captains for each class are: Freshmen, Dolores Vance and Toby Cantwell Sophomores, Helen McClelland and Carol Pleyte. Juniors, Doris Lewis and Carol Hertling. Seniors, Sandra Long and Doris White. The name of the winning class will be engraved on the plaque now in the trophy case. Members of the sophomore English class taught by Mr. Foster are working on entries for the essay contest being sponsored locally by the Ladies* Auxiliary of Speedway Post 2839, Veterans of Foreign Wars. The theme for these essays is “Peace, With Honor, for America.’* A convocation in celebration of Speedway’s victory in the sectional basketball tournament was held Tuesday afternoon.
