There is little or no doubt that Mr. C. C. Raney has developed the finest team to come out of the deep south in the history of the IHSAA. These boys are tall, averaging right at six feet. He has two lads who are> 6’ 7”. The Bull Dogs regret the absence of the Jeffersonville Red Devils, who will be out for the remainder of the season. It was the Red Devils who knocked out the Bull Dogs in the 1949 event We will live and die a hundred deaths with Mr. Raney and his Bull Dogs between now and the “Ides of March.”

LAFAYETTE HERE WE COME Roaring into the holiday tourney season, both New Albany and Jasper has yet to taste of the bitter cup of defeat. The way the draw turned out both of these teams were overwhelming favorites to win in the first round and meet in the championship. But fate at times is cruel and unrelenting. It was a case of history repeating itself. It was Central of South Bend that gave Cabby O’Neil his first defeat. Just a year ago, in the same tourney, it was the same Central team that gave Brazil it’s first defeat, 57-46. Attica is the surprise team of the north. Getting off to a very bad start with two defeats, they have now won their last eight games. In looking over their schedule, we find no team that can cause them too much anxiety the rest of the way.

Sweet Alice turned on the “charm” in the Washington tourney and won “going away.” In the first encounter she took care of a stubborn quintet from Wabash 54-50. In the finale she showed no mercy for the Vikings of Huntington and romped to a 67-26 victory. Anderson got sweet revenge with Newcastle over the holidays, by downing the Trojafls at Kokomo 67-56. The boys of Stuckey almost caught up with the Indians in the fourth quarter, but the Indians proved too elusive and came out on top.' All of the teams mentioned in these *paragraphs are potential champs with the possible exception of “Sweet Alice.”
