Coach Arad McCutchan’s Ace* will have the best record of th* two squads regardless of th* outcome of Evansville’s Wednesday night (Dec. 21) game with Anderson College. The Aces built up * five game winning streak at th* beginning of their season by stopping Oakland City, 74*47, Anderson. 84-59, St. Joseph’s, 54-42, Tennessee Tech, 76-56, and Bowling Green, 73-71. In their last two contests, the Evansville crew has stumbled and lost to Eastern Kentucky, 67-62, and Morehead, 6460, to account for their record of five wins and two losses.
Hinkle’s Bulldogs have three defeats and one win for their efforts. Three Western Conference teams have bested Butler and Wabash fell to the Fairview squad last Saturday night, 55-49. FoM| towing Friday nights* affair, tW Bulldogs will took forward to their role as hosts for the Third Annual Hoosier Collegiate Bas-, ketball Classic on December 2t9l and 30. For one of the few times this season, both squads will be playing at equals as far as the question of height is concerned. Each outfit’s starting team average* slightly over 6 feet per man. Both quintets’ scoring is ted by a small guard. Evansville’s Ace* scorers follow Joe Hafele, a S foot 9 inch guard. Hafele has teg| Evansville’s scoring in 7 gameP with 89 points and a 12 5/7 point a game average. Butler’s Ralph “Buckshot” O\ Brien, a 5 foot 9H inch guard, h*s led the scoring column in all of the Bulldog’s games. “Buckshot” has swished the nets for 84 points in 4 games for a 21 point gam* average. O’Brien’s worst night so far this season was last Saturday night’s 12 point showing against Wabash. So far this season, both crews have found themselves at a loss on rebounds and any situation where height is an asset. Saturday they will be meeting “pony” teams with an equal advantage in the altitude department. Coach McCutchan is expected to stick by his regular team for the opening whistle. This will include: Bob Barnett, 6 feet 3, and Jim Barnett, 6 feet, at forward; Harry Axford, 6 feet 2 inches, at center; Hafele and Bob Kohlmeyer, 6 feet, at guard. ."%■ Butler’s probable starters will follow previous games with Dee Baker, 6 feet 1% inches, and W. W. O’Brien, 6 feet, at forward; Ralph Chapman, 6 feet 3 inenejC/ at center; and O’Brien and ‘Jm Doyle, 6 feet, at guard.
