Indiana limestone has been used for the exterior of the building because of its permanence and lasting qualities, symbolic of eternity. The bells, calling men to prayer and worship, remind us* of our Lord’s great invitation to all men. The highest point of the building is the tower cross, the emblem of Christianity itself, and the symbol of our Redemption. Upon entering the church you will notice at once that the focal point of the worship service is the altar. The altar symbolizes the pressence of God and recalls the promise that “where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” It speaks, too, of the Cross of Calvary, the altar upon which the Lamb of God was slain for the sins of the world. Carved upon the front of the altar are three symbols. The center IHS is the monogram of the

The side panels contain the Greek letters, Alpha and Omega, the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet, meaning the Eternal One, “I am Alpha and Omega . . .”• The pulpit and lectern are placed in the chancel, and signify that the altar and God are reached by the way of the Word. The Scripture lessons are read from the Lectern, and the Word is proclaimed from the Pulpit. The chancel window is in the shape of a cross. The figures in the cross represent events in the life of the Apostle Andrew. comer of Hampton Drive and Clarendon Road on the Fairview campus, has been under construction since May, 1948. It will house the university cafeteria, bookstore, Campus Club grill, lounges, recreation rooms, and club rooms for student organizations. All units will move into their new quarters during the Christmas vacation period, Robert Newton, director of the center indicated. Designed by the architectural firm of McGuire and Shook and built by the Service Construction Company, the three floor unit resembles the Arthur Jordan Memorial hall and is located 200 feet to the south of the latter building. Ground floor of the Center will house the Campus Club with seating facilities for approximately 400, a billiard room including two pocket billiard tables, one snooker table, and one billiard table; a table tennis room, the bookstore, and rest room facilities, Mr. Newton said.
