Junior Red Cross got off to a flying start with a play “Counterpane Commando’s” presented to all the grades by Miss Smith’s fourth grade, and Mrs. Thompson’s fifth grade. To date 14 classes have enrolled, but 100% enrollment is hoped few. In addition to enrollment each will fill a minimum of 2 gift boxes to be sent overseas to underprivileged children. Many !«maii articles can. be put into the

boxes, such as soap, toothbrush and paste, pencils, crayons, small toys, and innumerable other articles for use and play. These boxes not only benefit the children who receive them, but also the many boys and girls who contribute their time and effort in the spirit of giving. Fifteen members of the College Preparatory English Class and six members of the Journalism Class, accompanied by Miss Spencer, attended the showing of “Hamlet” at the Esquire Theatre Tuesday evening, Nov. 8. The picture, starring Laurence Oliver, is an Academy Award Winner. Those attending were: Pat Bennett, Phyllis Brown, Bob Coughlin, John Guion, Julian Livingston, Charles Martin, Beverly Myers, Barbara Patterson, Ray Stewart, Dave Thomas, George Vance, Doris White, Betty Wicker, John Zore, Cordelia Ratliff, Ronny Bland, Marilyn Smith, June Essig, Margie McDaniels, Barbara Degener, and Don Crawford.
