St. Christopher’s Catholic Church Rev. L. A. Lindemann Pastor Sunday Masses: 6:00 o’clock Weekday Masses. 7:00 o’clock At the 8:30 o’clock Mass Sunday morning, the men of St Christopher will receive Holy Communion. If there is any man of St. Christopher who has not been incited (through no fault of the committee) to make the Retreat at the Alverna Retreat House on November 11th, 12th and 13th, he should call Bill Meyer on Winton as soon as possible. The Alverna Retreat House can accommodate forty, and we are told that the committee now have above twentyfive tentative reservations. The column was so jammed last week with the names of some of our good ladies who were on various committees that the lucky members of the Merchandise Club were neglected. On October 23d that Mary Mcßride was lucky again. Little Elaine Keller was her fairy godchild. Mrs. Mcßride chose sheets and pillow cases. Distance seems to make no difference as to your luck in this club, because Mrs. Wm. Kaeuper of Richmond, Ind. now owns a yellow bath set, thanks to Johnnie Whitmore. Johnnie just reached his hand in the box last Sunday and pulled out Mrs. Kaeuper s name. A very good crowd heard the first review of a series of five Book Reviews being sponsored by the Altar Society last Thursday evening. It was necessary to hold the party in the Parish Hall Due to illness in her family, Mrs. McDavitt was unable to give the book, “The Long Love,” and so Mrs. Dorothy Fitzgerald Shick, who was scheduled to appear on November 22d told the story of “The Mud-Lark.” A copy of the book which was given as a door prize was won by Nora Bray. Drop doughnuts made from the recipe on page 18 in “Tops in Food”. (St. Christopher’s Cook Book with the red and white plastic cover) and cider were served following the review. The next review will be on Tuesday evening, Novmber 22d ■ —and probably in the new hall. The name of the reviewer will be announced later. Mrs Ann Petraits of Auburn is at St. Vincent Hospital, Room 348, recovering from an operation. The family report -that she is getting along fine. AU good wishes are with you, Ann! Don’t forget—TURKEY DINNER and FALL FESTIVAL— Sunday, November 20th—at St. Christopher. Price of the dinner is to be $1.25 and 50 cents for children. We’ll try and get all the “dope” at the Altar Society meeting Wednesday evening and pass it on next week. Watch for it. f More and more people are hearing Mass and receiving Holy Communion on First Saturday in compliance with Holy Mother’s request. Saturday of this week is First Saturday. November is the month in which we especially remember our departed loved ones. At 6 o’clock Wednesday morning, a High Mass was offered at St. Christopher for all the departed members of St. Christopher, and for all the departed relatives of members of St. Christopher. But we should all remember that one Mass heard by us while we are living is worth many Masses said for us after we are dead. . “Blessed is the man that feareth the Lord.” —Psalms 111:1.
