Step 1 for Tenderness— cut in about % of the Spry until as fine as meal. Step 2 for Flakiness— cut in remaining Spry to size of large peas. Sprinkle 2% tablespoons cold water over mixture. Mix thoroughly with fork until a dough is formed. Shape into smooth, round ball. Roll into circle a little larger than pie pan. Fit pastry into 9-inch pie pan. Trim pastry 1 inch larger than pan and turn back edge. Flute rim. Prick shell all over. Bake in very hot oven (450 degrees F.) 10-15 minutes.

Red Cross Home Nursing Classes The Red Cross has announced that it will conduct another series of free home nursing classes, beginning October 20, in the Red Cross chapter house, 1126 N. Meridian Street. “Mother and Baby Care” classes, which are open to both present and prospective fathers and mothers, will begin Thursday, October 20, and will meet every Monday and Thursday for three weeks. Identical sessions are held from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. and from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. “Care of the Sick,” which teaches how to care for illness in the home, begins Friday, October 21, and well be - held from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday and Friday for three weeks. Persons interested in these classes may enroll by calling the Red Cross, Lincoln, 1441. Since the local chapter first began offering these courses, more than 3,000 men and women have received certificates in the course teaching home care of the sick, and more than 600 fathers and mothers have completed the course which teaches the care of babies. In addition, 1,274 high school pupils have received certificates in classes taught in their schools. All classes are taught by accredited Red Cross nurses. Any friendship you can buy costs more than it’s worth.
